Ottawa Valley NAVHDA Test Entry Rules
Each year the chapter organize NAVHDA sanctioned testing events. Test openings are as follows
- Open for 2024 Season OVNAVHDA Volunteers only through Nov. 30, 2024
- Open for OVNAVHDA Chapter members only through Dec. 31, 2024
- Open to all entrants Jan. 1, 2025

ENTRIES
To apply for a test date, AND BE PLACED IN THE WAITING LIST, select the test level and set preferred test day fill out the required information on the new NAVHDA member portal. This is to say: go to NAVHDA portal login (i.e., https://portal.navhda.us/auth/login ) enter your credentials (NAVHDA id and password). Notice you may need to enter a one-time code to comply with two factor authentication (2FA) procedure. You can either use an authenticator or ask for the code be sent via e-mail at your NAVHDA registered e-mail address. For more details see 101 Access NAVHDA portal
Payment
- Canada: Test payment can be made by INTERAC e-Transfer to ottawavalleynavhda@gmail.com
- US: OVNAVHDA will invoice you through PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account to pay using this method.
- Once the number of applications reaches the maximum of the NAVHDA sanctioned test capacity chart, any additional entry will be assigned on a reserve list. The test Secretary will inform all applicants accordingly.
ELIGIBILITY
The chapter tests are NAVHDA sanctioned as such all tested dog must be registered with NAVHDA. Please be aware of the following rules:
- Owners (or at least one owner of co-owned dogs) and any handler must be current NAVHDA International members in order to enter into a test and run a dog.
- No handler may run more than 2 dogs in either the spring or fall test.
- Only the dog registered for a test will be able to participate. No substitutions will be allowed.
TEST ENTRY FEES
Current test entry fees are as follows:

Please note that the test entry fee includes your lunch as well as a contribution towards lunches for the volunteers who are making your test possible.

ORDER OF PRIORITY
Test will be posted on the Ottawa Valley and NAVHDA sites as of September each year. The selection for entering an Ottawa Valley test will be based on the following:
- Members who have actively volunteered in Chapter events will be given first priority through September and October
- Members will be given priority over non-members for the period of November and December
- Non-Member will be considered starting in January
Please note that all can submit entry forms at any time after the test dates are published and their entries will be kept on file and considered according to their application date and the Club’s Order of Priority as stated above by the test secretary.
RUNNING ORDER
The running order will be determined about two weeks prior to the test date. It will be based on many factors such as male vs female, NA vs UPT vs UT, operational constraints and consultations with the senior judge. Please note that the running order is always subject to change and can only be finalised on the morning of the test. As well, regardless of the running order, all handlers and their dogs need to be present on site at the time the test begins/judges’ introduction.
REFUNDS
No entry fees will be refunded except in the following situations:
- 75% refund up to 45 days before the test date (no refund on day 45)
- for entries on waiting list for which no room was found in a test.
OV NAVHDA may consider refunds for exceptional situations but subject to the review and approval of the Executive Committee.
